USAID Ambassador’s Fund Grant Program (AFGP)



USAID Ambassador’s Fund Grant Program (AFGP), being managed by the Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability (TDEA), is inviting applications, along with other entities, from start-upsacademic institutions, research organizations, media etc. under following priorities defined by the US Ambassador to Pakistan as of January 2018:
  1. Empowering Vulnerable Populations
  2. Supporting Governance Institutions in KP-NMD
  3. Engendering Free Information and Free Press Organizations
  4. Expanding Social Tolerance to Reduce Conflict
  5. Provide Technical Assistance
AFGP is a five-year program, began in October 2017 and will continue until September 2022. Ambassador's Fund receives applications on a rolling basis from any part of the country for research projects spanning over 6-12 months. Grant size at Ambassador's Fund is up to USD 50,000. Exceptionally innovative ideas can go up to USD 100,000.

Innovative & Collaborative Research Grant (ICRG)

Innovative & Collaborative Research Grant (ICRG) supports research partnerships between Pakistani and UK universities, research bodies and existing centers of excellence that focus on any of the emerging disciplines/priority areas. Key objective of ICRG is "to support collaborative research between Pakistan and UK for cutting-edge research and innovation in emerging disciplines of knowledge."

Eligibility Criteria:
Principal Investigator (PI) must be a faculty member of Higher Education Institutions (public and private) in Pakistan collaborating with U.K partner institution and non-academic partner. The Consortia may include: Centre of excellence in related fieldResearch partner from third country (with ready financial contribution) 
 
Application Procedure:
Call for Proposals is currently open and applications must only be submitted through HEC online portal (http://eportal.hec.gov.pk)Guidelines for Call for proposal and Online application are available under "Downloads" section.
 
Deadlines:
For Project Outline Submission:  Monday, December 2, 2019
For Full Proposal Submission:   Friday, January, 31, 2020   
 
Funding Details:
 
  • Salaries for PI and co-PIs based on the amount of time spent on the project
  • Stipends for Bachelors, Master's, doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars to help take the prototype or proposed product to market
  • Travel to national and international meetings to present research results obtained and to support the proposed research
  • Equipment purchase and maintenance as appropriate & approved to conduct the proposed research
  • Purchase of research supplies necessary to conduct the proposed research
  • Processing fee for open access journals/ publications for disseminating research results obtained
  • Doctoral fellowship for six months
  • Prototype/ Product Development Cost (If applicable)

National Research Program for Universities (NRPU)






PSF Call for Proposals under Competitive Research Program (CRP)
 
Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) under its “Competitive Research Program” has invited research proposals from scientists/technologists/engineers/technopreneurs to achieve socio-economic goals through indigenous research and innovation. Researchers from HEC recognized public & private sector universities, public sector R&D organizations and industry can apply through proper channel under the funding criteria given below:

Funding Categories: 
  • Consortium Research Grants to finance research to resolve mega national issues through consortium of scientists from multiple professions and organizations with specific target of socio-economic gains.
  • Triple Helix Model (Research in collaboration with industry) to resolve industrial issues to substitute imports and enhance value addition of indigenous goods especially exportable commodities.
Salient Features:
  • Funding limit for these categories is Rs. 20.0 Million.
  • Maximum project duration should not exceed 3 years.
  • Project costing should be based on actual market rates.
  • Project should be prepared on prescribed proforma of Competitive Research Program.
  • Grants of award will be determined by subject experts, technical committees, Project Award Committees and Steering Committees. The decision of PSF will be final.
  • Proposals under Triple Helix Model must be supported by the Business Plan.
  • Proposals under Consortium Research Grants must be supported by the Consortium Research Plan.
  • The priority areas are available at PSF website.

National ICT R&D Fund
Ignite, National Technology Fund (Formerly known as National ICT R&D Fund) has launched National Grassroots ICT Research Initiative (NGIRI) 2019. The program aims to assist final year undergraduate students of ICT related disciplines by providing them financial assistance for developing prototypes / working models of their Final Year Projects (FYP) in order to increase creativity, innovation and hands on engineering and development skills.
